Adventures in English
In today's world the English language is a well sort after tool in business and education. English serves as a common ground between people of different languages. In missions this is the same. South Korea sends out more missionaries then almost any other nation but to be able to communicate with the people from other cultures they need English as a stepping off point.
Adventures in English is a program of teaching English to Korean missionaries in the Seoul Theological Seminary. Equipping them with a very vital tool for their service ahead.
How does it work
The first week is orientation, where you will receive basic training in how to teach English to Korean students, as well as learning about Korean culture. Then a two-week intensive seminar will train 80-90 Korean young people and potential missionaries in English. You’ll guide participants through instruction in English for worship, evangelism, Bible study, and cultural understanding. By staying together, you give participants the opportunity to use English all day, work in small groups, and develop cross-cultural relationships.
Learn from the Korean church. Immerse yourself in the lives of the missionaries and Koreans. Live with the students. Stay in the dorm, and endure heat, humidity, and hills. Guide small groups of participants through lesson materials in 5 areas: Bible study, worship leading and evangelism, conversation, missions, and special interest groups. Be challenged by the faith of Korean Christians.
Native English speaker, strong Christian testimony, physical health, and the spirit to "rough it". At least a high school graduate. Some skill/experience in teaching is very valuable, but not required.
